To design a site that captures the essence of the outdoors, summer and digital filmmaking all at once
To focus on the Los Angeles aspect of the design to use the festival’s physical location to our advantage (like other festivals focus on their locations)
To steer clear of “film” icons (film reels, clapboards, etc.) so as not to misrepresent the program
To focus on the “digital” and “online” aspects of the SUMMER SHORTS festival

To create a site that is usable as a calling card piece in portfolios
To create a site that teaches the team about interactive design for the purpose of audience entertainment
To learn about database site creation and video streaming for the Internet
To learn how to appropriately handle team structures and client communications
To learn how to operate within a real-world production timeline
